Over 240 of South Yorkshire's top professionals braved the floods and the threat of a power cut to come to the inaugural Insider South Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards.
In true Dunkirk spirit, they saw two organisations in particular - the mighty DLA Piper and the much smaller Strategic Corporate Finance - carry off most of the awards. DLA Piper won corporate law firm of the year, while former managing partner Paul Firth won a lifetime achievement award for his role in both leading the practice through considerable change, including masterminding the move to the new St Paul's Place office - a move which hugely boosted Sheffield's Heart of
the City project.
Strategic Corporate Finance won corporate advisory firm of the year and the overall dealmaking firm of the year award, while the firm's Andrew Coates was named Dealmaker of the Year.
DLA Piper and Strategic Corporate Finance also worked on deal of the year - the Camwatch MBO backed by Aberdeen Asset Management.
Bank of Scotland were named as Corporate Bank of the Year.
